How to Find the Otematata Lakes Hotel
Location
The Otematata Lakes Hotel is located on State Highway 83, at Otematata, a small town about 100km inland from Oamaru in North Otago, in the scenic Waitaki Valley, central South Island of New Zealand.
The holiday township has a permanent population of less than 500 residents, which makes it a quiet, peaceful destination. Otematata is nestled on the edge of Lake Aviemore, one of a series of hydro-electric lakes in the area, which make it very popular for water sports and fishing enthusiasts.

Climate
Otematata's climate is dry all year round, with temperatures in the 30's (Celsius) during summer, and dropping to -5 Celsius in winter.
This small township has its own micro-climate, at the base of Totara Peak. It avoids the extreme temperatures experienced in the Mackenzie Basin, and also the cloudy, cooler, wetter weather of more coastal areas.
